BayWa r.e. Korea participated in the 17th International Green Energy Expo held at EXCO, Daegu from July 15-17 and attracted attention.

A German company BayWa r.e., Europe's largest global new and renewable energy investment development, service and distribution company, saw that there were many business opportunities in the Korean renewable energy market receiving the government's active support, and CEO Matthias Taft established a Korean corporation in 2019.

Founded in 2009, BayWa r.e. is a global company with a total sales of 3 trillion won last year, and since expanding into Japan in Asia in 2014, it has expanded its business to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and Korea.

Beginning with large-scale photovoltaic project investments in cities, municipalities, and businesses, it provides all solutions including turnkey construction, technology operation management, and PPA. Starting with the Arau Project of Perlis in Malaysia in 2017, it has successfully constructed some of the largest solar power facilitates and commercial operations like is the largest in each country, such as Gebeng Project, Tetra Pak Project in Thailand, Isohara Project and Izumi Project in Japan, and Hughenden Project in Australia. It is soon to announce large-scale projects in the Korean market.

Daniel Gaefke, General Manager of BayWa r.e.Asia-Pacific Project said, "BayWa r.e. is interested in Korea and also thinks Korea is a very important market. Until now, the new and renewable energy takes only 8% in Korea, and so much investment and support is needed to achieve the goal by 2040, so we are going to contribute to this."

Based on the project know-how accumulated over the past 30 years, this Expo introduces businesses in overall new and renewable energy such as O&M services, power transactions, equipment distribution, and energy solutions. Particularly for corporate customers, it is informing a comprehensive portfolio of solar power and ESS products and 8,300 global solar equipment to Korean customers.

The 17th International Green Energy Expo, hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do and organized by EXCO, KECA, KNREA, KOPIA, KWEIA, KHIA, and KOTRA, is the new and renewable energy business marketing platform where 300 companies from 25 countries participated in 2019, attracting 32,000 visitors. It is Korea's largest, third in Asia, and one of the top 10 solar power and ESS exhibitions.
